Churchwarden's Jottings

(March 08, 2017)
Easter Time
Easter is one of the busiest times for St Andrews. The times of all of
the services can be found in this publication and on each of the
village notice boards. No doubt the Church will look stunning on Easter
Sunday after it has been adorned with spring flowers. Do pop in and
have a look, it will be well worth a visit.
Did You Know?
Once a month on a Thursday morning, for a couple of hours (10 - 12) you
will find Shirley and Brenda beavering away making coffee and
dispensing home made cake. This is not a religious event. It just so
happens to be held at the back of the church. All are invited, young
and old, ideal for young families to come along and make new friends
and have a chat, in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. Transport can be
provided, so why not give it a try?
The next coffee morning is 16 the April
Even Song
The church is often asked why there is never an evening service, so we
are going to have one. On Sunday 30April at 6.30pm, we are holding not
just any old Even Song but one lead by Canon Ken Parry with music
provided by the Heritage Choral Choir. So put the date in your diary
and come along to join in the service and singing.
A Saturday Evening Out
What do get when you have 50 musicians in a field, a balmy summers
evening (we hope), lots of deck chairs and rugs and a glass of wine or
two to wash down the delicacies in the picnic hampers? An excellent
evening attending picnic in the meadow, listening to the music of the
Stan Hacking Band. This is taking place on Saturday 18 June in the
meadow opposite the church. Gates open at 5.30pm. Tickets will be
available soon from the Post Office/Kennford Stores, Paul Rycroft and
Simon Preece. Please be aware it is admission by ticket only and these
will NOT be sold on the gate.
Is your scarecrow underway?
Plans are well advanced now for Kenn and Kennford's weekend scarecrow
festival on 15/16 July. It's going to be big and it's going to be fun.
Entry forms are available at the post office, the church and from
Mervyn Hosking and Simon Preece. I've already heard of some interesting
scarecrows being planned with Prince Philip putting in an appearance
and some water sports activities!!!! Please take part, the more that
do, the more fun it will be. There are even prizes to be won.
