Easter and Evensong

This year this was a very busy time at St Andrew's, culminating with the Easter Sunday service where over 80 people were in attendance. There were many comments about the wonderful flower displays around the Church. On Easter Sunday evening I had an overseas coach party of visitors who remarked that they thought the flowers were outstanding. My thanks to all the ladies that participated in the production of those floral arrangements and to all those who helped with the services over this period.

For those of you not in Church on the evening of Sunday 30th April, you missed a real treat. We had a fabulous service with 22 choral singers from the Heritage Choral Society, led by Sylvia Pritchard and Canon Andrew Godsall preaching. We hope that they will return to Kenn in 2018.

Have you secured your picnic tickets yet?

Picnic in the Meadow is fast approaching - Saturday June 17, gates open at 5.30pm. Tickets are available from the Post Office in Kennford, Paul Rycroft on 01392 834737and yours truly on 01392 832462. This is going to be a brilliant, fun evening. Over 50 musicians playing your favourite tunes, finishing with the last night of the Proms anthems we all know so well. All you have to do is buy your ticket, bring your picnic and liquid refreshments and something to sit on, chair rug etc. Parking is free (in the filed adjacent to the Church thanks to the Mortimers). The Meadow is opposite the Church.

Scarecrows Galore!

There will be much merriment over the weekend of July 15th and 16th July. From what I have heard, there are going to be some very interesting scarecrows about. Please do try and make one yourself, we certainly want the children of the parish to get involved. Entrance forms from Mervyn Hosking, the Church web site, the Church and Kennford Post Office. The weekend is being brought to a close with Songs of Praise  in the Church at 6.30pm lead by the Rev Mark Bate.

Time Stands Still in Kenn

The observant amongst you will have noted that the Church clock stopped working over the first May bank holiday weekend. In fact, it has stopped twice in the past month. The keeper of the clock, was at a loss to know why this was happening. A call was made to our clock maintenance wizard, Ken Woodleigh, who I hope   will be able to wave his magic wand and sort the problem such that the clock and its chimes will be fully functional again.
