Lent begins next Wednesday, i.e the  40 days getting ready for Easter.

 

We heard a remarkable sermon from Fr John in St Andrew's last Sunday. He spoke about Lent and more specifically Jesus's teaching that we should seek the Kingdom of God - that means the Kingdom of perfect Justice. Love & Peace. "Seek" he said,was an airy,fairy sort of word and it could be translated "Strive for" which means making a real effort.

 

Here is one suggestion of how we could strive for Justice, Love and peace, in a personal, but real way this Lent. Years ago someone told me that she was off to see an elderly neighbour who had moved into  a care home.  "That's how I'm keeping Lent this year - actually DOING some of the things I've been meaning to do for months but have not got round to."
