Gift Day

Thank you to all those who supported out Gift Day in October. Every little helps.

Lest we forget

Remembrance Sunday saw the church full to capacity for our service with our young people from the school leading and performing during the service. Thank you to all who participated and attended. Over £400 was raised for the Royal British Legion.

Christmas Festivities

December is here which means that Christmas is just around the corner. This is one of the busiest times of year for St Andrew’s.

We start with the Christmas Tree Festival on 4-6 December (see the separate advertisement). When talking to members of the parish there seems to be an increase in those who are planning to display Christmas trees. There is even going to be one with rubbish on it. I jest not! So do pop into the Church and have a look over that first weekend in December and maybe munch a mince pie or 2 as well.

Sunday 6 December, also sees our Carols by Candlelight service. We start at 5.30pm. This is a wonderful experience. If you have not been before, I would encourage you to come along. The acoustics in the Church for the singing and the brass ensemble are magnificent.

The Christingle Service on 13 December is focused on the children in our parish and St Andrew’s is always delighted that so many come along to fill the church to it’s rafters.

At the beginning of Christmas week we have Words 4 Voices, on Monday 21 December at 7.30pm. In my view the official start of Christmas. Once again Words 4 Voices are being supported by the Devon Waites choir. The programme is always entertaining and different every year. The atmosphere in the candlelit church is quite unique. Tickets (to include mulled wine and mince pies) are now available. They are £10 per adult, £2.50 per child. To secure your tickets please either contact Mervyn Hosking on 01392 832896 or yours truly on 01392 832462.

On Christmas Eve we have our 2 traditional services. The Crib Service is at 3.30pm, followed by our candlelit midnight mass at 10.30pm.We also have a service on Christmas Day morning at 10am.

It only remains for me to wish you a very happy Christmas and I hope to see you in Church over the festive period.
